Denture Cream Attorneys
Users of denture cream typically expect the cream to work in a way that affixes their dentures temporarily to their mouth and gums. Instead, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center have recently reported that a significant number of patients using various popular denture creams are experiencing unusual neuropathy and neurological symptoms. These symptoms typically are seen as a result of low copper and high zinc levels. The neuropathy symptoms can be extremely dangerous for those who use a lot of denture cream, typically the elderly. Most popular denture creams (Poligrip, Super PoliGrip, and Fixodent) contain some levels of zinc. Small levels of zinc are not hazardous and in fact, physicians recommend some level of zinc as part of a balanced diet. But too much zinc can quickly lead to depleted copper levels and zinc overexposure. These conditions can cause a person to experience numbness and weakness and in severe cases, “neuropathy” – a condition that severely affects one’s nerves.
Neuropathy symptoms include:
- numbness in the arms and legs
- tingling in the arms and legs
- inability to move the extremities
- pain in the extremities
- poor balance
- decreased walking stride
